Carmella Green is the Labor and Community Liaison for the Office of Philadelphia Councilmember & Majority Whip Isaiah Thomas. Carmella, through an office newsletter and direct outreach, serves as the office conduit for labor disputes, worker protection and labor related legislation. Labor leaders and workers often contact Carmella with issues around organizing, contracts, training programs and community events. She speaks regularly with labor leaders and workers about relevant legislation from Councilmember Thomas, community events sponsored by or in partnership from the Office of Councilmember Thomas as well as resources from City Council.
Carmella is also a classically trained vocalist receiving her Bachelor’s degree in Vocal Performance and Music Education from Temple University. Ms. Green is a Lyric Soprano with a rich, warm and powerful voice. She has been recognized for many choral and solo accomplishments of both classical and sacred works. A recipient of many vocal awards such as the Musical Matinee Society of Philadelphia Award, the Twisdale Music Award, and the William King Community Service Award. She was also nominated for the Most Promising New Gospel Artist by the Philadelphia Arts Academy. Carmella has traveled and performed many solo and choral concerts in prestigious venues such as the San Juan Orchestra House, Puerto Rico’s Music Hall, The Philadelphia Academy of Music, The Kimmel Center and more. She performed the National Anthem for a NFL New Orleans Saints game and in 2019 sang The National Anthem for President Joe Biden’s official presidential candidacy announcement in Philadelphia. Carmella released her debut single “Jesus Christ is Lord” in 2020 with Cloud Records. She currently sings with The Marian Anderson Historical Society & Museum. Carmella’s beautiful voice continues to inspire, motivate and move those who hear her sing.
