Naomi received a Bachelor of Music magna cum laude from Northwestern University and a Masters of Music with distinction from DePaul University prior to earning her J.D. magna cum laude from Chicago-Kent College of Law, where she earned certificates in Labor and Employment law and Litigation and Dispute Resolution (LADR) and was inducted into the Order of the Coif. At Chicago-Kent, Naomi earned several CALI Excellence for the Future honors, awarded for receiving the highest class grade, including for Employment Discrimination and ADR in the Workplace, and was the 2017 recipient of the Sandra P. Zemm Labor Law Prize. She was also active in the Labor and Employment Law Society and received 2nd Place in the Louis Jackson National Student Memorial Writing Competition in Employment and Labor Law for the 2017-18 school year. During law school, Naomi interned in the Mediation unit at the U.S. The NLRA and the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra Dilemma (20 Equal Opportunity Commission, and then became Wash. U. J. L. & Pol’y 403). Naomi Frisch joined the firm of Asher, Gittler & D’Alba in Chicago as a law clerk from 2015- 2016, and then as an associate attorney in 2021, specializing in Labor and Employment law. Naomi has a long history of work to support the labor movement. Since beginning her first career as a professional musician, Naomi assisted her fellow members of the AFM s of the United States and Canada, AFL-CIO (AFM), in several organizing campaigns, collective bargaining negotiations, and grievance and arbitration proceedings. Since 2012, she served on the board of the Regional Orchestra Players’ Association, and is now ROPA’s Legal Counsel. Naomi is also Legal Consultant to the Chicago Federation of Musicians, AFM Local 10-208’s Fair Employment Practices Committee.
certified as a mediator by the Chicago Center for Conflict Resolution, where she continues to volunteer as a mediator in the Circuit Court of Cook County and for private disputes. Naomi is a member of the American Bar Association, where she serves as Union Co-chair of the planning committee for the Labor and Employment Law Section’s Equal Employment Opportunity midwinter meeting. She is also a member of the National Employment Lawyers Association (NELA)-Illinois Chapter, and the Chicago Bar Association, where she has served on the Labor and Employment Committee’s legislative sub-committee. She frequently writes articles on labor and employment topics of interest to musicians for the AFM Local 10-208 magazine, the “Intermezzo.” In 2023, Naomi, along with her colleague Amanda Clark, taught Legal Writing for Labor and Employment Law at Chicago-Kent College of Law.
